Metalloinvest in the top quartile of the 2021 S&P Global CSA

Metalloinvest (“the Company”), a leading global iron ore and HBI producer and supplier, and one of the regional producers of high-quality steel, announces that the Company scored 44 points in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). This is significantly above the industry average (29 points), and represent a 7 points (+19%) improvement y-o-y.
Following the annual review, the Company’s result in the CSA put Metalloinvest in the top quartile of our industry (i.e., top-ranking 25% of companies in the S&P CSA universe). The most noticeable increase was in the Governance & Economic and in Social dimensions, where the scores improved by 10 and 9 points respectively. The Company’s continuous efforts in following market best practices in its reporting, while being privately owned, were recognised by the agency – environmental and social reporting both received the highest score of 100 points.
The S&P CSA is the fourth sustainability rating received by the Company. In January 2021, Metalloinvest scored 65 points out of 100 in the EcoVadis ESG rating (5 point y-o-y improvement). Later in July 2021, Sustainalytics improved the Company’s ESG Risk Rating by 4 points y-o-y and awarded Metalloinvest with 27.8 points (the lower, the better) and in September 2021, ISS ESG upgraded Company’s score to “C” from “C-”.
The S&P Global Corporate Social Assessment included the universe of over 1,800 companies as of November 12, 2021. Respondents are being rated in three main dimensions – Environmental, Social and Governance & Economic. S&P Global has selected relevant criteria in each sustainability dimension based on their weight in the assessment and their current or expected significance for the industry.
