Metalloinvest wins in three categories at RSPP’s 2020 ‘Russian Business Leaders: Dynamics, Responsibility, Stability’ competition

Metalloinvest has won in three categories at the 2020 national ‘Russian Business Leaders: Dynamics, Responsibility, Stability’ competition, organised by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
Metalloinvest was recognised for ‘Best Practice for Ensuring Employee and Counterparty Safety during the Coronavirus Pandemic’, ‘For Environmental Responsibility’ and ‘For High Quality Reporting in the Field of Sustainable Development’.
Julia Mazanova, Deputy CEO – Sustainable Development and Corporate Communications Director of Management Company Metalloinvest, said: “We are grateful to our colleagues for their recognition of our hard work. The fight against the spread of COVID-19 at our enterprises and in the regions where we operate, as well as the implementation of measures to further reduce our environmental impact, have become some of our key areas of activity in the past year.
“The recognition of our efforts to improve the quality and completeness of information disclosure is equally important for us. This is a priority area for the Company, and we have made a significant step forward towards addressing it. Over 800 respondents, a record number, participated in the stakeholder survey to inform the content of our Unified Report. A whole range of data, including verified statistics on greenhouse gas emissions, is presented for the first time.”
From the first days of the coronavirus pandemic, the Company has efficiently focused its resources on protecting its employees and supporting regional healthcare, allocating over 3 bn roubles towards this goal.
In 2020, the Company allocated 9.2 bn roubles for activities related to environmental protection. Major investment projects to modernise equipment, reduce waste generation and emissions, were implemented in all four of Metalloinvest’s enterprises.
The 2020 Unified Report, which comprises the annual report and the sustainability report, was published in May of this year. The unified format reflects the integration of sustainable development principles across the Company’s business processes.
Both parts of the report have been prepared based on the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). End-to-end disclosure of GRI indicators was carried out in both parts of the report. Additionally, a range of indicators based on Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) methodology were disclosed.
The national ‘Russian Business Leaders: Dynamics, Responsibility, Stability’ competition is held annually and seeks to support companies’ sustainable development, identify best practices and achievements in the field of sustainable development, environmental responsibility, occupational safety, and to identify dynamically developing companies based on their ratings.

243 of the largest Russian companies from 35 of the country’s regions took part in the competition, representing diverse industries.
